I have to admit, I really blew it this Christmas in terms of not making things for anyone. Well, I’ve got a nearly-finished mandolin strap for my brother, but that’s going to have to wait until I see him in person because I’m unsure about the length. And I did finally whip up some knitting stitch markers for my sister-in-law. I bought some owl beads from my local bead shops a while ago, thinking to make her earrings (she loves owls) but I didn’t know at the time that she doesn’t have pierced ears! So, I came up with these (all other beads were already in my stash):
I also made some for myself with some odds and ends I had lying around, including some stamped metal lucky clovers I’ve had since the early 80s (boy, they were cheap but they held up nice! Not a speck of tarnish) and a stray half of a toggle clasp (the circle half, fortunately):
He did a beautiful job on the woodworking, but the clock is ticking and he ran out of energy and patience for the painting. So I took over, and boy, did I have a great time! I don’t think I’ve painted, really painted, in years. I remember the last time I tried an acrylic painting had to be around 2007, and it was a failure. I definitely want to get back into it in the new year. Or maybe just throw myself into the jewelry-making. I waste so much time not doing things I love to do. Why is that?
I’ll have more pictures when it’s done and I’m back from holiday travels.
